During Manchester Science Festival 2024, members of the public responded to the artworks, creating their own reflections of what makes them unique. Their artworks were animated using an AI model, allowing them to join eachother in a virtual space.

Members of the Black and Global Majority Community in Manchester were invited to the Science and Industry Museum to engage in conversations on what makes them unique. We discussed genetics, digital identity, the role of media and culture. Participants then created self portraits in response to the conversations.

Portrait Painting Evenings
for the Black Community

Members of the black community attended 4 portrait painting evenings in which a new black model sat to be painted by the group. It was beautiful to hear models tell us about who they are and painters using their stories to add narrative to their paintings. 

We drank, ate snacks, laughed and encouraged each other during these evenings. One attendee described it as a "soft black space".

 

92 Degrees Coffee, April 2024
 

Couples made up of friends, romantic partners and first dates attended this paint your mate or date event at 92 Degrees Coffee in Manchester.

Attendees were guided in drawing their persons portrait, followed by painting them.
